CAUTION
Installation Notes
• Clean the inside and outside of filter head (2).
• Lightly lubricate O-ring with clean oil.
• Install fuel filter by reversing the order of removal.
• Tighten fuel filter hand tight.
• Open fuel shutoff lever (1).
• Purge air from the fuel system after installing the new
filter. (See “Purging the Fuel System” on page 3-5.)
See the engine manufacturer’s manual for further
instructions.
Fuel Pump
Removal and Installation
See Figures 3-27 through 3-29.

CAUTION
1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
2. Allow engine to cool completely.
3. Disconnect battery negative (–) cables from
batteries.
4. Remove radiator/hydraulic oil cooler. (See
“Radiator/Hydraulic Oil Cooler” on page 3-10.)

5. Turn fuel shutoff lever (1) to horizontal (off) position.

6. Remove two screws (2), flat washers (3), lock
washers (4), and nuts (5).

NOTE
Label all wires before disconnecting to ensure correct
installation.
7. Disconnect wire connector (11).
8. Place a suitable container under fuel pump (8) to
catch fuel that will flow from fuel hoses.
9. Loosen hose clamp (7) and disconnect hose (6) from
fuel pump.
10. Loosen hose clamp (9) and disconnect hose (10)
from fuel pump.
11. Remove fuel pump.
Installation Notes
• Install fuel pump by reversing the order of removal.
• Apply dielectric grease (Jacobsen PN 365422) to any
wire connectors disconnected.
Dispose of fuel properly. Contact the local
environmental department for instructions on
disposing of unwanted fuel products.
Diesel fuel is highly flammable—handle with care.
Use an approved container with a spout that will
fit inside the fuel filler neck. Avoid using
unapproved containers to transport fuel. Keep all
fuel containers clean and closed when not in use.
