Radiator Screen and Shield
Removal and Installation
See Figures 3-12 and 3-13.
1.
Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-6.)
2.
Allow engine to cool completely.
3.
Remove caps. (See “Caps” on page 9-10.)

Slide and remove radiator screen (1).

5.
Remove knobs (3) and radiator shield (2).
Installation Note
Install radiator screen and shield by reversing the order
of removal.

WARNING
1.

2.
Allow engine to cool completely.
3.
Remove hood. (See “Hood” on page 9-11.)
4.
Remove radiator screen and shield. (See “Radiator
Screen and Shield” on page 3-10.)
5.
Remove skirts. (See “Skirts” on page 9-9.)
6.
Remove air cleaner assembly. (See “Air Cleaner
Assembly” on page 3-7.)
7.
Drain hydraulic oil system. (See “Hydraulic Oil
Tank—Drain Procedure” on page 6-76.)

8.
Remove six screws (6), flat washers (7), flat washers
(8), lock washers (9), and nuts (10).
NOTE
The coolant system capacity is 3.7 gal (14 L). Have
suitable containers that can hold up to 5 gal (19 L) when
draining engine coolant.
9.
Place a suitable clean container, at least 5 gal (19 L)
capacity, under the radiator.

Never remove the radiator cap when the coolant
is hot. The engine must be shut down and cooled
before the radiator cap is removed. Very hot
coolant will be sprayed from the radiator if the
cap is loosened before the engine has cooled.
Serious personal injury can occur.
