Replace worn or damaged parts before you operate the aerator.
d
Keep gear box fluid at the correct level.
e

BEARINGS _______________________________________________________________
Roller bearings
•
Four different sizes of roller bearings are used on the aerator. The two
gearbox extension shaft bearings
(A)
and nine main crankshaft bearings
(B)
are pillow-block type bearings. The two roller bearings
(C)
are flange
type bearings.
•
Use the grease fitting
(H)
to apply one pump of grease to the bearings
each 100 hours. Do not over grease or seal damage can occur. Clean any
excess grease off the grease fitting. Replace the grease fitting
immediately if missing. Use medium strength thread locker (Blue (242)
Loctite) on new grease fittings.
•
If equipped, make certain the bearing is locked onto the shaft with set
screws
(G)
. Use medium strength thread locker (Blue (242) Loctite) on set
screws.
•
If equipped, make sure the locking flange
(J)
is locked onto the shaft in
the direction of rotation.
•
Check the roller bearings each week. The bearings must rotate freely and
should not stick at any point. Check the bearing housings and mounting
holes for cracks or damage.
•
Replace any bearings that do not operate correctly or are damaged.
•
Replace all roller bearings each 1000 hours.
Insert bearings
•
Three sizes of insert bearings are used on the aerator. There are sixteen connecting rod bearings
(E)
, sixteen
tine spring bearings
(D)
and forty eight linkage arm bearings
(F)
.
•
The insert bearings are sealed and can not be greased.
•
Check the insert bearings each 1000 hours or each year, whichever occurs first. The bearings must rotate freely
and should not stick at any point. Check that the retaining ring
(K)
is flat and correctly seated in the groove.
Check the body of the bearing for seals that have leaked, rust or other damage.
•
Replace any bearings that do not operate correctly or are damaged.
WARNING
Before you clean, adjust or repair this equipment, disengage the PTO, lower aerator to the ground, engage the
parking brake switch, stop the engine and remove the key.
Make sure the aerator is parked on a solid and level surface. Never work on an aerator that is lifted only by the jack.
Always use the jack stands.
