5) During hoisting operations, ensure the lifting line is
not in contact with any part of the keel crane aluminum
slots on the underside of the crane – as can happen if
the crane is misaligned, or the 308 block is twisted off
centerline. We expect this may have been the source of
the chafe and ultimate line failure that took place in the
field.
6) Once the top of the keel is lifted fully and reaches
the stop plate on the keel crane IMMEDIATELY cease
hoisting operations. Do not over hoist.
7) Do not allow boat lifting straps or any other lines to interfere with the keel crane orientation or keel
crane lifting lines during lifting operations.
