WARNING! If the saw chain (6) does
not stop when the chain brake is
activated, have the chainsaw checked
at an authorized service centre. Do
not use the chainsaw if the chain
brake does not function properly!
INITIAL OPERATION
Always use the correct supply voltage: the power supply
voltage must match the information quoted on the tool
identification plate.
SWITCHING ON/OFF
CAUTION! Prior to switching on the
machine, check the tension of the saw
chain (6), as well as the oil level.
Switching On
∙
To switch the machine on, keep the lock-off button
(11) depressed and press the on/off switch (12)
[F7]
.
Switching Off
∙
To switch the machine off, release the on/off switch
(12).
CAUSES AND OPERATOR PREVENTION
OF THE KICKBACK
The word kickback is used to describe the sudden
reaction that happens when the upper quadrant of the
tip of the guide bar (7) (known as the “kickback zone”
[F8]
) touches an object and the chain saw is kicked
backwards.
This dangerous reaction can happen when the guide
bar (7) touches sawn material, but also when the saw
chain (6) is blocked, causing the uplift of the chainsaw
which rises suddenly in the opposite direction, towards
the operator.
When the kickback occurs, the machine reacts in this
unexpected manner, suddenly and violently, and can
cause serious, even fatal injury to the operator or to
other people nearby.
The risk of kickback is increased if you use the wrong
cutting equipment or an unsharpened or loose saw
chain (6).
When conducting side, oblique and lateral cuts, special
care should be taken, because the notched rest (8)
cannot be used in these situations.
It is necessary that you understand what the causes of
kickback are and how to avoid them, by taking care and
using the right working technique.
To avoid chainsaw kickback
∙
Apply the machine as evenly as possible to the
surface to be cut.
∙
Work in stable and balanced position.
∙
Never work with a loose or worn saw chain (6);
sharpen the saw chain (6) properly.
∙
Never saw above shoulder height.
∙
Never saw with the upper edge or the end of guide
bar (7).
[F9]
;
[F10]
∙
Always firmly hold the machine with two hands.
∙
Use the notched rest (8) as a lever.
[F11]
∙
Pay attention to the correct chain tension.
∙
Pay attention not to hit the running saw chain (6)
on hard material (e.g. metal, mortar, stones etc) which
can be also hidden in the wood or near the area you
are working on.
∙
Do not attempt to get into an existing cut with the
running saw chain (6).
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Preparation
It is necessary to carry out the following checks before
use and regularly during sawing:
∙
The machine must be in working order.
∙
The oil reservoir must be full. The oil level should
be checked by looking through window (13) before and
regularly during the work. If the level of oil reaches
the lower edge of the viewing window, the oil needs
to be topped up. One check suffices for approximately
15 minutes of work (depending on the intervals and
intensity of the work).
∙
The chain must be correctly tensioned and sharp.
Chain tension should be checked every 10 minutes
during use. Special attention should be paid to new
chains, which often require tightening.
∙
The chain brake initiator must be intact.
∙
You must use the correct protective clothing.
General recommendations
∙
The machine should always be held firmly with
both hands, the left hand should hold the front handle
and the right hand, the back handle. The fingers should
constantly encircle the grip. Under no circumstances
should the operator work with only one hand. The mains
cable should always be behind the operator, out of the
way of the saw chain and the material to be cut.
[F12]
∙
The machine should only be used under reliable
support conditions. The machine should be held to the
right of the body, slightly distanced therefrom.
∙
The chain needs to be moving at full speed before
coming into contact with the wood. When this has been
