OPERATING PROCEDURES
OPERATING THE CHUCK
1. Connect the drill to 120 volt power.
2. Move the
forward / reverse switch (H, functional description, above) to the
right; the reverse position.
3. Grasp the chuck tightening ring (B, functional description, above) to prevent it
from turning when the drill runs.
4. Gently press the trigger.
5. This will open the chuck, until it accepts the drill bit or accessory shaft, up to
3/8" (10 mm) in diameter.
6. To close the chuck and tighten it, move the forward / reverse switch to the
left, the forward setting.
7. Grasp the chuck tightening ring to prevent it from turning when the drill turns.
8. Gently press the trigger.
9. This will close the chuck, and tighten the jaws’ grip on the bit. When the
Chuck tightening ring begins to slip in your fingers, the jaws are tight.
If there is no power available, the chuck can be opened and closed manually by
turning the chuck tightening ring and holding the chuck stop ring (C, functional
description, above) against each other.
ROTATION DIRECTION
1. To change the chuck rotation direction,
2. Move the rotation direction switch above the trigger to the other side.
=
Setting the direction switch to the left causes the drill to turn clockwise, for
normal drilling and driving screws.
=
The direction switch moved to the right will cause the drill to run in reverse
(counterclockwise) direction, backing drill bits and screws out screws out of
their holes.
RUNNING THE DRILL
1. Plug in the tool.
2. Hold the tool firmly. Squeezing the trigger more will increase the speed.
3. To maintain the speed, engage the Trigger lock-on button (E, functional
description, above) on the left side of the handle when squeezing the trigger
switch. You can then release the trigger while the tool continues to run at
speed.
4. To disengage the Trigger lock-on button, squeeze the trigger.
WARNING!
Turn off your drill at once, unplug and inspect it for serious
problems if:
=
Moving parts get stuck
=
Speed drops to an abnormally low level
=
The motor housing gets hot
=
Sparks or odours emit from the casing
FOR PROPER OPERATIONS
Use only correctly sharpened drill bits which are suitable for the material being
drilled.
When drilling hard materials, firm pressure is required on the power tool
however, excessive pressure does not improve performance and places
unecessary pressure on the tool and its bit.
WARNING!
If the drill stops suddenly, release the trigger switch immediately
and remove the drill from the work to determine the cause.
To minimize the chance of sudden stops and breaking through the material,
reduce the pressure on the drill and ease up on the bit .
Keep the motor running when pulling the bit back out of a drilled hole. This will
help prevent jamming.
