Connecting the Battery: Multiple Parallel Batteries Configuration
1. The
Pre Charge Procedure
(previous page) must be completed on EACH battery before
proceeding with a parallel configuration. Do not proceed until this has been completed.
2. Create a wiring diagram detailing the connections between the batteries, battery combiner box and
the system components.
It is CRITICAL that the battery cables between the battery combiner
box and batteries are EXACTLY the same size, length and type
. Any variance in battery cables
will have unequal resistance and result in significant battery performance issues.
4/0 battery cables and a 250 amp circuit breaker are recommended for EACH battery in the bank.
2/0 battery cables and a 175 amp circuit breaker can be substituted
if appropriate for the project’s
loads. See the Charge / Discharge Parameters section of this manual for details.
3. Before making any connections to the batteries, turn each battery ON by pressing the
Wake Up
button.
4. Measure the
battery’s voltage using a volt meter on the battery’s positive and negative connections.
Verify the battery is within the normal resting voltage range (48
– 54 Volts). If the voltage is outside
this range, stop the installation and contact Iron Edison for assistance.
