(B) Phone (J2)
This is the connection for the retractor-reel connected to the handset. It is typically factory
installed and must remain in its location.
(C) Ringer/Audio (J3)
This RJ-11 jack permits connection for an external ringer device. As with all RJ-11 connections,
the two inner pins (3 and 4) will provide the ring signal on the telephone circuit during an inbound
ring, to be connected to the external ringer device.
Note
External ringer devices connected to the Sigma
7
external ringer jack should be of a type that ring
upon application of a standard telephone ring signal.
Telephone circuit ring signals are typically 20–25 Hz
at 40–85 VRMS. Reference ICG P/N 938035 for
external ringer.
CAUTION
DO NOT CONNECT EXTERNAL POWER TO THIS
JACK.
3. Wiring
ICG recommends that 22- to 26-AWG stranded wire be used. The cable should be a single or dual
twisted pair cable (if separate data circuit required) with overall shield and drain wire. The drain wire
should be connected to aircraft ground at the CTU or transceiver end and left un-terminated at the
telephone end.
n
Terminate the end at the telephone into an RJ-11 plug.
n
Ensure that the RJ-11 plug is of the correct type to accommodate the size of wire used and that it
is designed to accept discreet wires and not telephone flat cord.
Note
ICG can provide the correct RJ-11 plugs
if they cannot be obtained locally.
