14.
Reduce the risk of unintentional starting. Disconnect the machine always when not in use and
before adjusting, changing parts, cleaning or servicing the machine. Make sure switch is in off-
position before plugging it in.
15.
Check the machine for damages. If you notice any damages in the machine, in its guards or
other parts, do not use it until it has been repaired in an authorized service center. Check for
alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting and any other
conditions that may affect the machine operation. Damaged parts should be properly repaired or
replaced by an authorized service center.
16.
Never leave the machine running unattended. Turn power off and do not leave the machine until
it comes to a complete stop.
17.
Do not use the machine when you are tired, sick or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, medi-
cation or similar that could affect your ability to use the machine safely.
18.
Never allow unsupervised or untrained persons to operate the machine. Make sure any instruc-
tions you give in regards to machine operation are approved, correct, safe and clearly under-
stood.
19.
WARNING: Dust generated from certain materials can be harmful to your health, for example
lead from lead-based paints as well as arsenic and chromium from chemically treated lumber.
Always use the machine in well-ventilanted areas and provide proper dust removal. Use dust
collection systems whenever possible. Also use approved safety equipment such as a dust mask
that is specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.
SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1.
Read the instruction manual and warning labels on the lathe carefully before using the machine.
2.
Children or disabled people are not allowed to use the machine.
3.
Do not operate the wood lathe until it is completely assembled and installed according to in-
structions.
4.
Connect the machine to a grounded outlet only. Only a qualified electrician is allowed to do
electrical connections.
5.
Always wear safety goggles and a dust mask.
6.
Tighten all locks before operating.
7.
Never work on a split workpiece.
8.
Use the lowest speed when starting to work on a new workpiece.
9.
When turning a workpiece, always rough the wood to round form at slow speed. If the lathe is
run so fast that it vibrates, there is a risk that the workpiece will be thrown out of the lathe or the
tool jerked from your hands.
10.
Always rotate the workpiece by hand before turning on the motor. If the workpiece strikes the
tool rest, it could split and be thrown out of the lathe.
11.
Do not allow the turning tools to bite into the wood. The wood could split and be thrown from
the lathe.
12.
Always position the tool rest above the centerline of the lathe when shaping a piece of stock.
13.
Do not operate the lathe if it is rotating in the wrong direction. The workpiece must always be
rotating toward you.
14.
Before attaching a workpiece to the faceplate, always rough it out to make it as round as possi-
ble. This minimizes vibration while the piece is being turned. Always fasten the workpiedce se-
curely to the faceplate. Failure to do so could result in the workpiece being thrown from the
lathe.
15.
Position your hands so that they will not slip onto the workpiece.
16.
Remove all loose knots in the stock before mounting it between the centers or on the faceplate.
17.
Never leave the machine running unattended. After you have finished working, turn the switch
off, unplug the machine and wait for the machine to stop completely before leaving the work
area.
