Persons who normally wear spectacles should
use their distance glasses for focusing in the
pentaprism viewfinder.
An invaluable accessory for the PentaPrism view-
finder is the flexible eyepiece cup (Fig.14) : this
is fitted on to the eyepiece (19) of the penta-
prism viewfinder and shields it from distracting
stray-light; it is also helpful for spectacle-wear-
ers, since vision-correction lenses made by one’s
optician can be inserted into the mount, making
it possible to focus without wearing glasses.
The EXA lla is also available with a Distance
Meter or Fresnel Lens focusing screen built
permanently into the pentaprism viewfinder.
Both types of screen have a split-image range-
finder in the center of the image field, the
use of which doubles the accuracy of focusing
in every situation (particularly for users with
defective eyesight and when taking pictures
under poor lighting conditions). When the lens
is focused correctly, the two half-images in the
circular rangefinder field must be accurately
aligned without displacement above and below
