2.6 Intel® ICH7 Southbridge Chipset

The Southbridge chipset is connected to the interfaces listed in the subsections below.

2.6.1 Audio

The audio controller supports line output, line input and microphone input through audio

jacks on the rear I/O panel.

2.6.2 IDE Interface

The IDE interface supports up to two IDE devices and transfer rates of up to 100 MB/s.

2.6.3 PCI Interface

The PCI interface connects to three PCI slots.

2.6.4 Real Time Clock

256 bytes of battery backed RAM is provided by the Motorola MC146818 A real time clock

(RTC) integrated into the ICH7. The RTC operates on a 3 V battery and 32.768 KHz
