Opto-Isolated Reset output, a write to base D is required and to activate the Opto-Isolated
NOT reset, a write to base E is required. All of these are reset by a computer reset or a
read from base F.
When this option is installed it is used in conjunction with Option 02 to maintain internal tempera-
ture in the computer by controlling fan speed. The duty cycle of fan power is pulse-width modu-
lated to speed up the fan when temperature becomes too high.
Status Register
Bit assignments of the Status Register are as follows:
BD0 Watchdog counter refresh reminder (Active low)
BD1 Temperature good (Active high)
BD2 Isolated Input #0 status (Same as input)
BD3 Isolated Input #1 status (Same as input)
BD4 Fan good (Active low)
BD5 Power Supply overvoltage (Active low)
BD6 Power Supply undervoltage (Active low)
BD7 IRQ generated (Active low)
Utility Software
Utility software is provided on the diskette with the PCI-WDT50x card. This software includes:
a. SETUP.EXE, an illustrated setup program.
b. WATCHDOG.EXE provides two functions. First, it logs the date and time of every occasion
when it is run. The program is designed to be used from AUTOEXEC.BAT such that it will
effectively log the time of every boot-up including re-boots due to watchdog timeouts. Second,
the program can turn off the buzzer.
c. Sample programs for use with QuickBASIC, Turbo-C and Turbo-Pascal. Sample 1 demonstrates
how to program the counter/timer and Sample 2 displays each bit of the Status Register and
shows the measured temperature inside the computer.
d. Programming hints are provided in the Programming section of this manual.
e. Additionally, a utility driver named VBACCESS and a sample program for use with
VisualBASIC for Windows are provided. See the end of the Programming section of this
manual for a detailed description of this utility driver.
