Chapter 3: Upgrading

Upgrading the System Memory

The 586MBHP allows an upgrade of the system memory up to 128MB, using SIMM memory

modules. Please refer to chapter one for proper memory installation.

Upgrading the Microprocessor

The 586MBHP currently supports the following CPUs:

Intel P54C Pentium 75, 90, 100, 120, 150, 166, 200MHz.
Cyrix 6x86, 100, 120MHz
AMD K5 Pentium Processor 75, 90, 100MHz

To upgrade the Microprocessor, please refer to Chapter 1 for proper installation and jumper set-

tings.

Upgrading the Cache Memory

Your 586MBHP Motherboard allows an upgrade of the cache memory up to 512K.

To upgrade the cache memory on your 586MBHP:

Remove the old cache memory chips.
Install 8 of 64k x 8 - 12ns chips, and
Set jumper JP28 to 2-3 position.

IMPORTANT

Watch for polarity when replacing the Cache chips.
