Planning your Physical Layout
This section presents physical planning information to ensure a smooth installation. Information includes:

Space requirements
v
Physical dimensions and weights of the shipping crates
v
Weights and dimensions of the printer components
v
Electrical requirements
v
The best location for installing the printer
This book also contains a checklist to ensure a successful installation (see “Chapter 6. Checklist” on
page 37).
Physical Layout
As you plan the physical layout, be sure to:

Install the printer away from the main traffic pattern. Allow space for operators and service
representatives to perform their tasks. This space should not extend into walkways.

Install the printer in a location that is convenient for the operator. For example, consider whether the
planned location is close to printer supply storage areas and to output distribution areas.
v
Allow 2489 mm (98 in.) between the floor and the lowest permanently attached object above the printer,
such as a light or a cable rail. This layout gives printer operators and service representative space in
which to work. See Figure 3 on page 13.

Ensure that doorways are at least 183 cm (72 in.) wide and 229 cm (90 in.) high.
Minimum Space Requirements
When planning the space for your printer, consider clearances for paper loading, servicing and normal
cleaning and maintenance on all sides of the printer. Maintain at least 2 m (80 in.) for paper loading and
servicing of the printer and at least 1.5 m (60 in.) for paper unloading.
Figure 2 on page 12 shows an example of a typical installation.
Minimum space requirements are shown in Figure 3 on page 13 and Figure 4 on page 13.
