6. Reset the switch after each module is loaded; this helps ensure error-free

downloads. Select option 5 to reset the system.

Serial Port or TFTP Downloading with the Download Menu

Important: Before beginning, make sure that the baud rate of the terminal session
and the 8270 are both set to 9600. Although this rate is slow, it helps prevent
potential problems.

This section provides information on initiating the download procedure with the
Download menu.

Follow these steps to begin a software upgrade:

Step

1. If you are downloading via the serial port, insert the upgrade disk in your

terminal drive. Make sure that your terminal emulator supports Xmodem
protocol.

Step

2. If you are downloading via TFTP, copy all three image files to the TFTP

server and prepare the TFTP server.

Step

3. If you have not already done so, start a console session and advance to

the Main Menu. For information on starting a console session, refer to
Planning, Configuration, and Operation.

4. Select Download on the Main Menu.
