Error Messages
Any operational error is indicated by a red LED and accompanied by a sound alarm. Furthermore, the
display indicates an error status message.
To remove the status message on the display, and return to the main menu, press
STOP
.
If abnormal operating conditions occur during transformer testing, the following error messages will
appear on the test.
7.1
Error Message “Connections"
The Error message
“Connections" is displayed if the H or X cables are not connected properly to the
TRT33A. There are also green LED lights near the connectors indicating that these connectors are
connected properly, when lighting.
7.2
Error Message “Excitation current too high"
The Error message
“Excitation current too high" is displayed if the excitation current exceeds expected
values. This value is set to 500 mA. Excitation current can be reduced by using lower test voltages from
the device menu.
Possible reasons for this are that the transformer is drawing too much current. In that case repeat the
test with a lower test voltage. Second reason for too high excitation current is that the connections are
reversed. If there are no connections errors found, there may be short circuit within the transformer.
7.3
Error Message "Turns Ratio too low"
This message is displayed if the turns ratio of the transformer under test is lower than 0,8. In this case
check whether HV an XV cables are misplaced on the transformer‟s side.
