NOTE: S/MIME encryption and digital signatures for Windows Mobile-based devices are available only
with Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 or later versions that support S/MIME. If you are not using one
of these products, or have not yet synchronized, these options will be unavailable.
Change email security options
Windows Mobile 6 supports two methods of installing a certi fi cate on your device; you can
either import a certi fi cate from a fi le or you can enroll at a Certi fi cate Authority using HTTP.
Use personal certi fi cates to positively identify yourself to others.
You can check your installed certi fi cates by tapping: Start > Settings > System tab > Certi fi cates .
ActiveSync allows you to set up S/MIME email encryption and signing. You will have to obtain a valid
certi fi cate for signing or encrypting email before you will be able to sign or encrypt mail successfully.
1. Tap Start > Programs > ActiveSync.
2. Tap MENU > Options.
3. Select the Email information type, then tap Settings.
4. Tap Advanced. Do one or both of the following:
· To encrypt all outgoing email messages so the contents of a message cannot be viewed by anyone other than the
intended recipient, select the Encrypt all outgoing email messages check box.
· To sign all outgoing email messages so a recipient can be certain a message was sent by the claimed sender
and has not been altered in any way, select the Sign all outgoing email messages check box.
5. To select a certi fi cate for signing or encrypting outgoing email messages, tap MENU > Choose Certi fi cate. You can
select certi fi cates to sign or encrypt email messages individually, even if you do not choose to sign or encrypt all
outgoing email.
Change email folders and accounts
When viewing any mailbox, you can jump quickly to another mailbox as follows:
1. Tap Go To > Folders.
2. You can select the new folder you wish to view.
3. If you also wish to manage your folders for ActiveSync, tap Menu > Tools > Manage Folders.
