15.10 Checking the starter relay

- Install the capacitor.

Preparatory work

- Press and hold the kill switch C><:l while the engine is idling until

the engine stops.

- Remove the air filter box cover. (

p. 96)

- Remove the seat. (

p. 100)

- Disconnect the negative cable of the 12 V battery. (

p. 136)

Main work

- Pull the starter relay off of the holder.

- Unplug connector

- Pull back the cable covers.

- Disconnect cables

and

on the starter relay.

- Connect the starter relay to a 12 V power supply as per the

figure.

- Measure the resistance between the specified points.

I Resistance of open circuit I O

If the value displayed does not meet specifications:

- Change the starter relay.

- Connect cables

and

on the starter relay.

- Pull back the cable covers.

- Plug in connector

- Mount the starter relay onto the holder and route the cable.

Finishing work

- Connect the negative cable of the 12 V battery. (

- Mount the seat. (

- Install the air filter box cover. (
