RTN 380H Grounding Solution
Select ground points for the outdoor network cable.
Ground the outdoor network cable through ground clips at the following positions:
1. (Optional) About 0.5 m to 1 m after the cable leaves the port. For RTN 380Hs delivered in March 2016 and earlier, GE cables
must be grounded at this position. This requirement does not apply to RTN 380Hs delivered in April 2016 and later.
2. About 1 m before the cable leaves the tower and runs toward the outdoor cable tray
3. About 0.5 m to 1 m before the cable is routed into the equipment room or outdoor cabinet
4. About 1 m before the cable leaves the roof cable ladder

Use a box cutter to strip off a section of the cable sheath. Take care
not to damage the shield layer.
Install and waterproof the ground clip. (See the appendix for the
waterproofing method.)
Two types of terminals (ground bar terminal and U-shaped terminal) are available for a
ground clip. Select a terminal as required.
•If a ground clip is installed on a thin cable, secure the ground clip by using the binding wire
delivered with the ground clip.
•For details about how to install ground clips, see the use instructions delivered with the
ground clips.
Ensure that the angle between a PGND cable and a power cable is 15 degrees or less. If
the power cable is routed vertically, route the PGND cable from the top downwards. Do
not route the ground cable upwards.

Select ground points for the DC power cable.
Ground the DC power cable through ground clips at the following positions:
2. About 1 m before the cable leaves the tower and runs toward the outdoor cable tray
3. About 0.5 m to 1 m before the cable is routed into the equipment room or outdoor cabinet
4. About 1 m before the cable leaves the roof cable ladder
Identify the delivery time of an RTN 380H as follows:
Find the ESN label on the RTN 380H.
In the ESN, the thirteenth character indicates
the delivery year and the fourteenth character
indicates the delivery month.
For example:
8A indicates October 2008.
A9 indicates September 2010.
E3 indicates March 2014.
G3 indicates March 2016.
If the thirteenth character is 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E,
or F, or the thirteenth and fourteenth characters
are G1, G2, or G3, the GE cable must be
grounded at position 1.
If the thirteenth and fourteenth characters are
G4, G5, G6
…, H1, or H2, the GE cable does
not need to be grounded at position 1.
