3.5.1 The EDFA-Fail Indicator Is Red

The EDFA-Fail indicator is red.

The output optical power of the
EDFA is lower than the
threshold for the output optical
power.

Check whether the output optical power of the EDFA
exceeds the threshold for the output optical power.

The temperature of the HFA
exceeds the upper limit.

Check whether the temperature of the HFA exceeds the
upper limit.

The PUMP current of the HFA
exceeds the upper limit.

Check whether the PUMP current of the HFA exceeds
the upper limit.

Other hardware is faulty.

Contact Huawei technical support engineers.

NOTE

When the PUMP is being enabled, it takes some time for the output power to increase to the set value.
Therefore, the output power of the EDFA is less than the set value, and the EDFA-Fail indicator is
steady red. After the output power becomes stable, the device recovers.
