If the processor is not being replaced, install a processor baffle (
).
CAUTION:
To avoid damage to processor socket pins and ensure proper system cooling,
install a processor baffle in an empty processor socket.
To replace a processor that is not defective, reverse the removal procedure.
The replacement processor module is shipped from HP without a heat sink. You will need to order
and attach a heat sink to the processor module before installing them for repair.

IMPORTANT:
•
DO NOT SEPARATE THE PROCESSOR FROM THE HEAT SINK FOR A DEFECTIVE MATERIAL
RETURN.
The heat sink and processor must be returned as a unit to facilitate testing and root
cause analysis.

Do not discard your heat sink packaging or processor ESD bag. Reuse this packaging to
return any exchange material.
•
You MUST use a new heat sink with an undisturbed thermal interface for processor installation.
•
To receive credit for returning defective material, make sure to include the processor paperwork.
NOTE:
After replacing the processor and heat sink module use the
cpuconfig
from UEFI to
verify the that the processor socket has been reconfigured.
