Before removing the power button board, follow these steps:

Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn

the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.

Disconnect all external devices from the computer.

Remove the following components:

Service door (see

)

Battery (see

Battery on page 49

)

Fan (see

Fan on page 74

)

Keyboard (see

Keyboard on page 58

)

Base enclosure (see

Internal base enclosure on page 68

)

Heat sink (see

Heat sink on page 79

Remove the power button board:

Disconnect the power button board cable from the power button board

(1)

Remove the broadhead Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screw that secures the board

(2)

to the top cover.
