3.1 Softkey Functions (Figure 3-1)

For maintenance purposes it helps to know what soft keys are and how they are manipulated. Although
not required to perform the procedures in this manual, more detailed information on operating the
8500C/C+ balancer/analyzer can be found in

, or the 8500C/C+ User’s Guide for your aircraft.

The soft keys are the four unmarked keys whose labels are displayed on the screen. These labels can
change as the screen changes. Soft keys are affected by the following items:

•

<brackets>

- Whenever a soft key label is in brackets (except for

<CHANGE>

), pressing that

soft key changes its label (and the screen) to a new mode; pressing it again changes it back.
Whenever an item in a screen (often a SETUP screen) is enclosed in brackets, and the cursor is
placed on that item, pressing

<CHANGE>

will change that item.

•

MORE KEYS

- An asterisk at the right end of the soft key labels indicates that more soft key

functions are available when

MORE KEYS

is pressed.

•

SHOW/HIDE

- If the soft key labels are obstructing part of the display, press

SHOW/HIDE

to make them disappear; to restore the labels, press

SHOW/HIDE

again.
