Fitting the cuff
1. Remove tight fitting clothing from your left underarm and position the cuff on
the wrist with the palm facing upwards. The cuff must be positioned on the
arm approximately 1 cm above the hand.
2. Pull gently at the end of the cuff so that it tightens easily and smoothly
around the wrist. The cuff is secured by pulling the velcro fastener towards
the cuff.
3. The cuff should feel pleasant around the wrist, yet so tight that there is no
extra space between the cuff and the wrist. If for some reason like poor
blood circulation you cannot measure on left arm, place the cuff around
your right wrist.
4. Relax your entire body, and place your arm on the
table with the palm facing upwards and with the
cuff at the same level as your heart (which is
located slightly below your armpit). If the cuff is not
at the same level as your heart or if you cannot
keep your arm completely still throughout the
reading, use a soft object such as a folded towel to
support your arm.
5. Turn you palm upwards. Sit upright in a chair, and
take 5-6 deep breaths. Avoid leaning back while the
measurement is being taken.
