THREADING THE UPPER THREAD
25. Threading the upper thread is easy, but it must be performed correctly.
26. Turn off the machine before threading.
27. Raise the needle to the uppermost position by rotating the needle
raising and lowering dial (23) towards yourself (counter-clockwise), until
the needle starts to lower.
28. Raise the presser foot lifter (28) to release tension.
Caution! This action is crucial. If you do not release the tension by raising the
presser foot, the thread will loop significantly on the fabric underside during
sewing.
29. Rotate the dial towards yourself to the moment when the needle (12)
and the thread take-up lever (2) are in the uppermost positions.
30. Attach the items onto the spool pin (20) in the following order: spool
base, spool with thread, spool cap.
31. If the thread spool is small, you may leave the spool pin (20) in the
horizontal position.
Caution! If the thread spool has a notch at the end, this end should be on the
right to prevent thread jams during sewing.
