5.8 Changing the Guideway Strippers

5.8 Changing the Guideway
Strippers

Guideway strippers on each axis ensure that no
contamination can get into the guideways.

The machine’s guideways are protected from
aggressive cutting emulsions, dirt, and swarf by
means of protective bellows with steel laminas.

The guideways of the Y-axis cannot be protected by
such measures, and so the guideway strippers of
this axis suffer greatly from wear.

Check the guideway stripper [1] every week for
signs of wear. Change the guideway stripper as
soon as the first signs of wear are apparent.

• If the guideway stripper (three-part) has to be

changed, unscrew the 9 holding screws [2]
and remove the worn stripper.

• Clean the guideways thoroughly to remove oil,

dirt, and swarf.

• Mount the new stripper (order number

127.01.08.02) and screw it on with the 9
fastening screws.

The X- and Z-axis strippers can only be changed by
HERMLE service personnel.
