– Centrifugal fans
Installation and Operating Instructions
CHAPTER 4
MAINTENANCE AND
SERVICING
– Check tightness of all connections (if required)
– Remove assembly residues from fan or duct
– During the test run, check the fan for improper vibration and noise
– Do not operate the fan beyond the specified performance curve (see catalogue/internet).
The fan must run at its prescribed operating point
– Fill out the enclosed commissioning report (see page 12) and submit in case of a warranty claim
3 .11 Operation
Regularly check the correct functioning of the fan:
– Check the air gap (see table 3.5)
– Free movement of the impeller
– Power consumption measurement
– Check on possible vibrations and noise
– Deposits of dust and dirt in the casing or on the motor and impeller
4 .0 Maintenance and servicing
–
Before any maintenance or inspection work or before opening the terminal compartment, the device must
be fully isolated from the power supply and secured against unintended restart!
– Excessive deposit of dirt, dust, grease and other materials on the impeller, motor and especially between the casing
and impeller must be avoided and prevented by periodical cleaning.
– If the fan is used for important technical functions, servicing is necessary at least every 6 months, and in case of
standstill for a longer period of time, it must be serviced before recommissioning.
– Maintenance and servicing work may only be carried out by authorised specialists in explosion-protection.
– The following must be checked:
• Air gap
• Screw connections, particularly impeller fastening.
Do not loosen screws in the process!
• Casing/impeller surface coating (e.g. rust, paint damage)
• Bearing noises
• Damage
• Vibrations
• Deposits of dirt
• Power consumption
• Function of the safety components (if provided)
– It is recommended that a system maintenance log is kept and the tests and test results are logged. Compare the
results with the results of previous tests. If the parameters vary, you must contact the manufacturer.
– The instructions in the electric motor maintenance manual must be observed.
4 .1 Cleaning
– The unit must be isolated from the power supply before cleaning work!
Wet cleaning when the unit is live can lead to electric shock .
– Regular inspection with periodic cleaning, if necessary, is required in order to avoid imbalance due to contamination.
– Do not use aggressive, paintwork-damaging agents!
– High-pressure cleaners or water jets are not permitted!
4 .2 Indications – Fault causes
– Abnormal noises can mean worn out ball bearings.
– Vibrations can originate from an unbalanced or dirty impeller or due to the installation situation.
– Extreme performance reduction can occur if the fan operates above the transition point, i.e. outside the permissible
range (associated with higher sound level).
4 .3 Spare parts
Defective fans must be completely exchanged according to Directive 2014/34/EU (Product Safety Act). Own repair
attempts are strictly prohibited! Optimum operational safety for the fans is only guaranteed when repaired the manu-
facturer.
4 .4 Standstill and disposal
The generally applicable regulations for labour protection and accident prevention must be observed!
– Electrical work must only be carried out by an authorised electrician.
– Use suitable lifting tools and fastening devices to dismantle the fan.
– The fan components correspond to the applicable regulations and laws.
