3.1 Intended Use
HF Argon coagulation probe; HF-HEBU APC-Probe: The flexible probes for argon plasma coagulation
(APC probes) are used for argon gas-assisted coagulation and are used in oesophago-, gastro-,
broncho-, colono- and rectoscopically assisted interventions in the gastrointestinal tract or in the
tracheo-bronchial space. The APC probes can be used in conjunction with electrosurgical units (high
frequency generators) and an argon unit with an output voltage of max. 4 kVs are operated. They are
connected to the unit with the reusable and steam sterilizable cable. The probes are reusable and
steam sterilizable. The activation of the gas supply as well as the HF-current takes place via the
footswitch of the high frequency generator.
HF Argon Probe
– rinsing adapter: A connector for cleaning an HF argon coagulation probe. The
rinsing adapter has a Luer Lock connection. It is a reusable product.
3.2 Contraindications
There are no known contraindications.
3.3 Maximum elctrical capacity
Maximum electrical capacity: 4kVs.
4 Application remarks

HEBU APC probes are generally operated using a spray coagulation current mode. Select this
current mode and always operate using the blue pedal!

To "ignite" the argon plasma, approach the tissue with the distal probe opening to a distance of
around 1-5mm.
During the argon-supported coagulation process, the distance can be increased to appr. 2 - 2.5 mm
before the plasma is extinguished.
Flexible endoscopy and laparoscopy applications:
The diameter of the endoscope working channel should be at least 0.3 mm bigger than the specified
probe diameter.
During endoscopic application, flow rates of 0.3 to 0.8 l/min are recommended at a spray output rating
of appr. 30 W.
The maximum flow rate of 2 l/min must not be exceeded!
