OXYGEN SENSOR TESTER
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY
BEFORE USING TESTER.
The HC-Cargo oxygen sensor tester is designed to test
Zirconia Oxygen Sensors only. A very small precentage
of vehicles use a Titania Oxygen Sensor, which works
differently than the Zirconia Oxygen Sensor. The oxygen
sensor tester will not work on the Titania style sensors.
Refer to the appropriate service manual if you have any
questions on which sensor your vehicle uses.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
- Consult owner´s manual and current service manual
for safety guidelines that need to be followed.
- Do not wear loose clothing or neckties when
working on vehicles.
- Never wear jewelry that could get tangled or caught
in moving parts or touch electronics which could cause
electric shocks or burn you.
- Keep yourself clear of all moving parts in engine
compartment.
- Making sure wires of tester are clear of all moving
parts.
- Vehichle should be in park with the hand brake
applied.
- The oxygen sensor is located in the exhaust where
temperatures can be high. Take proper precautions to
avoid burns or injury when working in these areas.
BATTERY INSTALLATION:
CAUTION:
To avoid damage to the tester make sure the
tester is switched to the "OFF" position when installing
the battery.
A quality brand 9 volt alkaline type battery is required to
power the Oxygen Sensor Tester.
1. To remove battery cover, press down on arrow and
slide cover in the direction of the arrow.
2. Install the 9 volt alkaline battery, assuring proper
polarity.
3. Reinstall battery cover.
4. To test for proper installation of battery, turn tester
ON. The LED "Power ON" light should lit.
If LED "Power ON" light does not lit, check for
proper battery installation, that the connections are
tight and that the battery is in good condition.
If LED "Power ON" light and "Sensor Light" are on,
check the battery condition. If the battery is weak
(the voltage is too low), replace the battery.
NOTE:
Battery should be removed from tester
when tester is not in use.
