Troubleshooting
Problem
Possible Causes
Likely Solutions
Motor will
not start.
1. Cord not connected.
2. No power at outlet.
3. Internal damage or wear. (Carbon
brushes or switch, for example.)
1. Check that cord is plugged in.
2. Check power at outlet. If outlet is unpowered,
turn off tool and check circuit breaker. If breaker
is tripped, make sure circuit is right capacity
for tool and circuit has no other loads.
3. Have serviced by a qualified service technician.
Motor starts but
only hums.
Impeller not moving freely.
Free Impeller by inserting slotted screwdriver
into center hole on fan cover and turning fan.
Motor stops
running.
1. Pump overheated.
2. Fuse is blown or circuit
breaker tripped.
3. Voltage is too low.
1. Wait for Pump to cool off, restart pump.
MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT HAVE A DRIPPING
FAUCET OR SLOW LEAK, this will cause the
pump to run continuously and overheat.
2. Disconnect power and replace fuse
or reset circuit breaker.
3. Check voltage being supplied to pump.
Motor runs but
no water is being
delivered.
1. Pipes are frozen.
2. Improper priming.
3. Clogged strainer at end
of intake hose.
4. Outlet valve closed.
5. Impeller plugged.
1. Thaw pipes.
2. Re-prime according to directions.
3. Clean strainer.
4. Open outlet valve.
5. Have Impeller cleaned by qualified service technician.
Pump vibrates
and/or is noisy.
Impeller damaged, worn motor
bearings, foreign object in pump.
Have qualified technician service pump .
Follow all safety precautions whenever diagnosing or servicing the tool. Disconnect power
supply before service.
