Synchronizing Data 

Performing a HotSync  

The HotSync process automatically synchronizes data between your 
handheld and the Palm Desktop software. Synchronization is the 
process of exchanging and updating data that has changed between 
the handheld computer and the computer desktop. Changes you 
make on your handheld or Palm Desktop software appear in both 
places after a HotSync operation. 

 

Tip:

 

If you have difficulty performing a successful HotSync 

operation, refer to “Why can’t I complete a HotSync 
operation?” in Chapter 7. 

1. 

Connect your HotSync cradle to your desktop computer. Refer to 
Connecting the HotSync Cradle on page 1-5. 

2. 

Tap the Application icon on you handheld.  

3. 

Tap the HotSync icon.  

4. 

Tap Local. 

5. 

Tap the Pick List and select Direct Serial. Refer to Figure 1-6.
