MULTI PURPOSE OPERATING
TOOL
Your Hamlet stove is supplied with a multi purpose
operating tool, which is used for riddling, setting
the grate, adjusting the air inlet controls and the
removal of the ash pan.
SETTING THE GRATE
To use the operating tool for setting the grate,
place the tool over the external round bar
extension, found on the front right hand side of the
stove (if looking at the front door of the stove).
Move the tool to the desired position, (-) position is
suitable for burning wood, and the (+) position can
be used for burning solid fuels. See Fig. 23.
RIDDLING (DE-ASHING)
It is necessary to maintain an ash layer on the
upper surface of the grate bars, in order to protect
them so de-ashing should cease as soon as the
first red embers drop into the ash pan. Further de-
ashing will cause heat build up under the grate,
which will considerably shorten its life.
This operation should be carried out with the
door / doors closed to prevent dust escaping
into the room.
Move up and down vigorously the riddling lever
(ash will fall into the ash pan beneath the grate,
see Fig. 23)
When de-ashing is complete re-set the grate to
the previous position.
Empty the ash pan.
Please Note—Do not force the riddling lever.
TO EMPTY THE ASH PAN
The Camborne Deluxe stoves are supplied with a
unique ash pan. (Fig. 24) To empty or remove the
ash pan open the fire door (s), fit the fork end of
the operating tool into the ash pan slots and re-
move from the ash pit chamber.
Empty the ash into a suitable container and
replace the ash pan into the stove, withdraw the
operating tool and close the fire door (s).
AIR WASH / PRIMARY CONTROL
KNOBS
The operating tool can also be used to adjust the
primary inlet and air wash control knobs. Use the
fork end of the tool, place side onto the knob and
push in the desired direction, see Fig. 25.
