FAULT CONDITIONS
29
High or Low Pressure Fault:
An open High or Low Pressure switch, continuously for 3 seconds, causes this fault. In order to prevent false fault detection due to a
power failure, the fault is long enough to allow the power supply to die. Once this fault is issued, the Controller will shut down the
heat pump outputs and go into Auto-Restart. If the High or Low Pressure switch stays closed continuously for 1 minute, the fault
condition will clear. This fault condition is only detected in the Heat or Cool Mode.
Inter stage or Line Temperature Fault:
If the temperature of the refrigerant vapor that is entering the Primary Compressor is 110°F (43.3°C) or above for 1 second, this fault
condition occurs. The Controller shuts down the heat pump outputs and goes into
Auto-Restart.
If the temperature of the
refrigerant vapor that is entering the Primary Compressor drops to 95°F (35°C) or below for 1 minute, the Controller clears the fault.
This fault condition is only detected in the Heat Mode.
Inter stage or Line Temperature Sensor Fault:
If the Controller cannot measure a valid temperature (-58°F to 194°F) (-50°C to +135°C) from the Line Temperature Sensor for a
period of 3 seconds, this fault condition is issued. In the Heat Mode, once this fault condition is issued, the Controller shuts down
the heat pump outputs and goes into
Auto-Restart
. If the Line temperature is valid for a 1 minute, the Controller recovers from this
fault. This fault condition is detected in any Mode. Cool Mode of operation is not affected by this fault condition. However,
the
fault code is displayed along with the operating mode.
The X/L output is energized if this fault condition persists for 30 minutes in
Standby or Cool Mode.
Coil Temperature Sensor Fault:
If the Controller cannot measure a valid temperature (-58°F to 194°F) (-50°C to +135°C) from the Coil Temperature Sensor for a
period of 3 seconds, this fault condition is issued. In the Heat Mode, once this fault condition is issued, the Controller shuts down the
heat pump outputs and goes into
Auto-Restart
. If the Coil temperature is valid for 1 minute, the Controller recovers from this fault.
This fault condition is detected in any Mode. Cool Mode of operation is not affected by this fault. However,
the fault code is
displayed along with the operating mode.
The X/L output is energized if this fault condition persists for 30 minutes in Standby or
Cool Mode.
Ambient Temperature Sensor Fault:
If the Controller cannot measure a valid temperature (-58°F to 194°F) (-50°C to +90°C) from the Outdoor Ambient Temperature
Sensor for a period of 3 seconds, the Controller issues this fault. In any Mode, once this fault condition is issued, the Controller shuts
down the heat pump outputs and goes into
Auto-Restart
. If the Ambient temperature is valid for 1 minute, the Controller recovers
from this fault. This fault condition shall be detected in any Mode. The X/L output is energized if this fault condition persists 30
minutes in Standby or any other Mode.
24VAC Short Circuit Fault:
If a short is detected on one of the 24VAC outputs,
all the 24VAC outputs
are shut down immediately, all at once, and this fault is
issued. This fault condition causes
Auto-Restart
. There is no X/L output with this Volatile Lockout. There is no Emergency Heat
Mode allowed with this fault. This fault condition is detected in any Mode.
24VAC Over Voltage or Under Voltage Fault:
The Controller monitors the 24VAC input voltage. If the input voltage is outside of the operating range, 18V R.M.S. to 30V R.M.S.,
for 1.5 seconds, the Over Voltage or Under Voltage Fault is issued, the Controller shuts down the heat pump outputs, including RV in
Cool Mode, and goes into
Anti-Short Cycle
. This fault is cleared if the voltage returns to the normal range for 1 minute. If the fault
persists for 30 minutes, the X/L output is energized. If the voltage returns to the normal range at the end of Anti-Short Cycle, the
Controller returns to normal operation.
The fault code is displayed on the display along with the Anti-Short Cycle code
. This fault
condition is detected in any Mode.
Internal Board Fault:
This fault occurs when the Controller detects a failure within itself. Once this fault is detected, the Controller goes into
Auto-
Restart
.
Abnormal Line Frequency Fault:
The Controller checks the line frequency continuously to determine if it is 60Hz. If a line frequency other than 60Hz is detected for 1
second, the Controller shall issue this fault and go into
Anti-Short Cycle
. The valid 60Hz range is 57-63Hz. If the fault persists for 30
