Electrical Troubleshooting Chart
Cooling 9K BTU, 12K BTU, & 18K BTU
NO COOLING OPERATION
Insure that fuses are good
and/or that Circuit Breakers
are on and voltage is 208/230.
Before continuing, check
for Fault Codes, see
Electronics Control
Diagnostics.
Nothing operates, entire
system appears dead.
Line voltage present at
the Transformer Primary
24 Volts at “R” Terminal
on Board
24 Volts present at “Y”
Terminals on T-stat and
board
3 minute delay done at
control board?
208/230 volts present at
compressor’s relay on
board?
Are wiring connections
and capacitor good?
Check Supply Circuit’s
jumper at transformer. If
OK, replace board.
Problems indicated with
Control Transformer,
replace board.
Problems indicated with
Thermostat or control
wiring. Fix.
Wait until done.
Replace board.
Repair or replace what is
needed.
Compressor and fan
motor should now
operate.
See Refrigerant Circuit
Diagnosis if unit still is
not cooling properly.
Is locked rotor voltage a
minimum of 197 volts?
Is Capacitor and (if so
equipped) Start Assist
good?
Have system pressures
equalized?
Compressor should run.
Possible compressor
problem indicated. See
Compressor Checks.
Allow ample time for
pressures to equalize.
Replace capacitor and/or
Start Assist device.
Supply circuit problems,
loose connections, or
bad relays/board.
Set thermostat to “Cool”, and
the temperature below the
present room temperature.
Compressor and Fan Motor
should now operate.
See Refrigerant Circuit
Diagnosis if unit still is not
cooling properly.
Compressor runs but the
blower/fan does not.
Fan runs but the
compressor does not.
24V at Thermostat and
control wiring?
Defective Thermostat
defective control wiring
or transformer.
Is line voltage present at
motor leads?
Compressor runs but the
blower/fan does not.
Motor should run.
Problems indicated in
blower relay of board.
Replace capacitor.
Possible motor problem
indicated. Check motor
thoroughly.
