When in use, medical devices may be susceptible to electronic interference from other
electronic instruments, such as PCs and mobiles. This may result in incorrect operation
of the medical device and create a potentially unsafe situation. Medical devices should
not interfere with any other devices.
In order to regulate the requirements for EMC, with the aim to prevent unsafe
product situations, the EN 60601-1-2 standard for both immunity and emissions has
been implemented. This standard defines the levels of immunity to electromagnetic
interferences, as well as maximum levels of electromagnetic emissions for medical
devices.
Nevertheless, special precautions need to be observed:

Appendix F - Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC)
The BA 904 slit lamp is designed to illuminate the eye with a halogen bulb to
allow examination of the structure of the human eye. EMC disturbances to the
essential performance of the BA 904 slit lamp could be displayed by a loss or
reduction in the illumination.
The use of accessories and cables, other than those specified by Haag-Streit
UK, the manufacturer, with the exception of cables sold by Haag-Streit UK as
replacement parts for internal components, may result in increased emission or
decreased immunity of the device.
The BA 904 slit lamp is designed to be used in a professional healthcare facility
environment.
Other electronic devices, particularly portable radio frequency communications
equipment, should be no closer than 30cm (12 inches) to any part of the BA 904
slit lamp.
