The rechargeable battery packs have a finite lifetime. The expected life of the device is
five years, under normal conditions. If the battery fails to hold charge, this could reflect a
fault in one of the cells and the pack should be replaced.
To guarantee a long service life, the device must be cleaned as described and protected
in its case, when not in use. We recommend having the device inspected and serviced
once a year, by a fully-trained Haag-Streit UK accredited Engineer.

In order to correctly check the slit lamp, proceed as follows:
•
Insert test rod into the pin hole with the surface at a right angle to the microscope
•
Set the illumination at 50%
•
Set the eyepieces so that the test rod is in sharp focus
•
Close the slit edge to 0.5 mm. The borders must be sharp.
This device has no metrology aspects and does not require calibration. To ensure the
device maintains a long service life, Haag-Streit UK (the manufacturer) recommend the
device is serviced annually.
Turn off the illumination control rheostat and disconnect the power supply
before replacing the bulb. If the slit lamp has been in use, wait for the bulb to
cool before removing it from the device.
Only original manufacturer-supplied replacement parts and materials may be
used.
