Grounding the switch by using a grounding strip
CAUTION:
Connect the grounding cable to the grounding system in the equipment room. Do not connect it to a
fire main or lightning rod.
If a grounding strip is available at the installation site, use the grounding strip to ground the switch.
To ground the switch by using a grounding strip:
1.
Attach the ring terminal end of the grounding cable (yellow-green) to the grounding hole in the
switch.
a.
Remove the grounding screw from the grounding hole in the rear panel of the switch.
b.
Attach the grounding screw to the ring terminal of the grounding cable.
c.
Use a screwdriver to fasten the grounding screw into the grounding screw hole.

Connect the other end of the grounding cable to the grounding strip.
a.
Cut the grounding cable to a length according to the distance between the switch and the
grounding strip.
b.
Peel 20 mm (0.79 in) of insulation sheath by using a wire stripper.
c.
Use the needle-nose pliers to bend the bare wire in the shape of a loop.
d.
Remove the nut from a post on the grounding strip. Hook the grounding cable to the post,
and use the hex nut to secure the cable to the post.
