gaSSing regUlation
If a lead acid battery is charged for a longer time without gas protection, it may
form harmful acid layers. The solar charge controller removes or prevents the
formation of these acid layers by using a „controlled gassing“ function.
This behavior is dependent on the surrounding temperature and is controlled by
the built-in temperature sensor.
attention!
When charging lead-gel batteries (VRLA) and
when using the system on a boat, the gassing control feature must
be turned off (see Preferences).
note:
Consumers with < 8A fuses can be destroyed when connected with
switched polarity. It is recommended that each consumer should be separately
protected.
preSetS
The factory setting of the solar battery charger is set as follows:
– Gassing control: active (see function description). This feature can be disabled
if required.
note:
When loading lead-gel batteries (VRLA) the Gas control must
always be switched off. To deactivate this feature please proceed as follows:
DeactiVating the gaSSing control.
1.
Unscrew the two visible screws and remove the cover.
2.
Cut the wire bridge JP1 on the PCB. The gassing regulation is now deacti-
vated.
