PEDQ 3005/4005/5005 QMX
level regulator (max. –20 dB) at the output collector of the head end station.
When the head end station is switched on, the two-line LC display briefly
shows the software version of the control unit and then the cassette type of the
slot occupied first.
You can use a PC or notebook to update the operating software of the cas-
settes via the 9-pin SUB-D socket (RS 232) in the cassette ("
BE Flash
" software).
You can find the current operating software of the cassettes on the website
"
www.gss.de
".
The cassettes are intended for use in the head end stations
PSU 12, PSU 8 and
PGT 8
2.3.1 Software versions
Cassette
How to query the software version of the cassette is described in "Querying
software versions" on page 18.
Control unit
If necessary, you can activate the indication of the software version of the
control unit manually:
• Press any two keys on the control unit of the head end station simultaneously
until the display goes dark and
the software version, e.g. "
V 41
", is displayed.
2.3.2 TP module functions
When converting the transport stream signals to QAM-modulated cable signals,
the data stream can be accessed via the integrated TP module. This data stream,
also called transport stream, contains several stations in all their components
(video, audio, data and service information), which can be changed using the
TP module.
Station filter
Individual stations and channel strips can be switched on or off. This changes
the data rate and, consequently, the output symbol rate.
Stuffing
The transport stream is padded using what is referred to as zero data. This
increases the data rate and, consequently, the output symbol rate. Changing
the output symbol rate alters the bandwidth used appropriately (halving the
output symbol rate roughly halves the bandwidth at the output).
