The following checklist will help you to correct most of the problems that can occur with your unit. 

Before you go through the following list, verify the following points:

Check the mains cable and the tube connection.

If the following list does not help, please consult your HiFi dealer.

PROBLEM

CAUSE (AND CORRECTION)

GENERAL

Space Fidelity switches off

The transformer could be overheated. 
Switch off the unit and remove all objects that may cover the ventilation slots on the top cover of the unit. Let the unit cool
down for approx. 15 minutes before switching it on again.

The unit does not function

If the unit ‘hangs’ and you get no response whatsoever, this could be due to electrostatic discharge phenomena.
Switch the unit OFF with the POWER button, and then on again, or pull the plug from the mains socket and re-insert.

No sound.

Increase the VOLUME (

If headphones are connected, disconnect them.
Ensure that the tube is properly connected.
Make sure that the MUTING function is not switched on (

Left and right speaker channels 

The plug of the tube is connected the wrong way around.

Check the tube connection

The remote control does not work

Replace the batteries.
Too far away from the unit, or pointed at an excessive angle.

RADIO OPERATION

No sound

Due to bad stereo reception the muting function is active. Select 

FM MONO

reception or adjust the frequency.

Strong hum or hiss.

Adjust the aerial.
Station signal is too weak. (Connect to an outside aerial for improved reception).

CD CHANGER OPERATION

CD compartment does not close

CD not correctly inserted.

PLAY 

B

key does not work

CD is scratched or dirty or is inserted upside down.
CD player is switched to PAUSE.
Extreme temperature variations have caused condensation on the laser lens.
This will evaporate after a short while.

'NO DISC' appears in display

No CD in the compartment or CD is scratched, dirty or warped.
Insert another CD.

Playback does not begin 

CD player is in PROGRAM or SHUFFLE mode.

CASSETTE DECK OPERATION

Recording not possible.

No cassette in the cassette compartment.
The erase protection tab has been removed (cover the holes with a piece of tape to correct). 
The tape is completely wound.

Recording and playback not possible,

Dirty capstans.

Tape residue on the recording/playback heads.

Extreme speed deviations or

Dirty capstans or capstan idlers.

CD COPY does not function

The selected source is not CD. 
Select the recording source CD.
