G0656 8" Jointer with Built-In Mobile Base

For  your  convenience,  the  adjustments  listed
below  have  been  performed  at  the  factory  and
no  further  setup  is  required  to  operate  your
machine.

However, because of the many variables involved
with  shipping,  we  recommend  that  you  at  least
verify  the  following  adjustments  to  ensure  the
best possible results from your new machine.

Step-by-step  instructions  for  these  adjustments
can be found in

SECTION 7: SERVICE

.

Factory adjustments that should be verified:

1.

  Knife Settings (

Page 34

).

2.

  Depth Scale Calibration (

Page 36

).

3.

  Fence Stop Accuracy (

Adjustments

Tighten V-Belt

The final step in the setup process must be done
after approximately 16 hours of operation. During
this first 16 hours, the V-belt will stretch and seat
into  the  pulley  grooves.  After  this  16  hours,  you
must  retension  the  V-belt  to  avoid  slippage  and
burn out. Refer to

Page 31

 when you are ready to

perform this important adjustment.

Note:

Pulleys and belts can get hot. This is a nor-

mal condition. Allow them to cool before making
adjustments.

A  small  amount  of  black  belt  dust  at  the  bottom
of the belt housing is normal during the life of the
machine and does not indicate a problem with the
machine or V-belt.

Test Run

Once  the  assembly  is  complete,  test  run  your
machine to make sure it runs properly.

If,  during  the  test  run,  you  cannot  easily  locate
the source of an unusual noise or vibration, stop
using  the  machine  immediately,  then  review  the

If you still cannot remedy a problem, contact our
Tech Support at (570) 546-9663 for assistance.

To test run the machine:

1.

Make sure you have read the safety instruc-

tions at the beginning of the manual and that
the machine is setup properly.

2.

Make sure all tools and objects used during

set up are cleared away from the machine.

3.

Connect the machine to the power source.

4.

  Turn the machine

ON

.

5.

Listen  for  abnormal  noises  or  actions  and

watch for vibration. The machine should run
smoothly.

— Strange or unusual noises must be inves-

tigated and corrected before operating the
machine  further.  Always  disconnect  the
machine from power when investigating or
correcting potential problems.

6.

  Turn the machine

OFF

.

—If  your  outfeed  table  is  correctly  set,  no

adjustments are necessary.

—If  the  knife  lifts  the  straightedge  off  the

table  or  the  table  is  below  the  straight-
edge,  adjust  the  outfeed  table  height  with
the  handwheel  until  the  straightedge  just
touches a knife at its highest point of rota-
tion.

5.

Lock the outfeed table, reinstall the cutterhead

guard, and close the rear access panel.
