When fitting the cowl retaining screws please ensure that they engage in the hardwood blocks in the
fuselage.

Hardwood blocks for the cowl retaining screws
--
Measure off the position of the screw blocks and mark their centres on the outside of the fuselage and the
cowl.
Install the ON / OFF switch in the fuselage side. At the appropriate position cut a rectangular opening the
same size as the switch bezel.
Joining the wing panels
The first step here is to locate the horn holes and the servo openings using your fingertips, and melt the
film over them using the tip of a hot soldering iron.
Remove a circle of film around the horn holes, the same size as the horn base.
Press the rubber grommets and the brass tubular spacers into the servo mounting lugs, and fix the servos
in the wings using the retaining screws supplied with them.
Glue the horns in the prepared holes in the control surfaces, and assemble the pushrods as shown in the
photos: cut the pushrods to length and solder an M2.5 clevis to the plain (unthreaded) end of each one.
When installing the landing flap servos please note that the output arms should be offset to the rear by two
splines when the servos are at neutral (centre).
The retract units can now be installed, once the end-points have been adjusted:
Locate the locking pin which locks the undercarriage, and check that it moves smoothly in both directions.
The two plastic wheel wells must be trimmed to fit and glued in the wing panels before the retract units are
installed.
Place the retract units in the recess in each wing, and mark the correct length of the wheel legs.
File two small flat areas in the wheel legs where the wheel axles fit, so that the grubscrews have a defined
position, and the axles will not rotate on the legs. It is important that the wheels run parallel to each other,
or with slight “toe-in”.
Thread the pushrods into the wing panels from the root end, until the clevis is visible in the retract unit
opening.
Connect the clevises to the actuating lugs on the retract units, fit them in the wings and mark the position
of the retaining screws. Drill pilot-holes at the marked points, and screw the units in place permanently.
