DFADE-2 Operation
This section provides instructions for using the gain controls, aligning
outputs, and setting the mode switches.
NOTE
For details on connecting remote control, see the
“
DFADE-2 Remote Control
” section.
Using the Gain Controls
Two
GAIN TRIM
controls are provided on the front panel (
L
and
R
).
These controls allow each channel’s overall level to be adjusted
independently from
−
18 dB to
+
30 dB. The controls are active in both
local and remote modes.
•
L GAIN
~
In two-channel mode,
L
adjusts left channel level.
~
In stereo mode,
L
adjusts both channels
simultaneously.
~
When
Mode Switch 2
is down, the channel is in unity
and the control is disabled.
•
R GAIN
~
In two-channel mode,
R
adjusts right channel level.
~
In stereo mode,
R
is not used.
~
When
Mode Switch 3
is down, the channel is in unity
and the control is disabled.
Remember that you can boost as well as attenuate with the trims.
Aligning Outputs
For aligning output levels, use the front panel
GAIN TRIM
controls, in
conjunction with external signal and metering equipment:
To align the left and right digital outputs:

Mode Switches
are up.
2.
Connect a reference digital tone generator to the DFADE-2’s
AES IN
connector.
3.
Connect calibrated digital meters to the
AES OUT
jack.
4.
Turn on the reference tone, and while metering the output
levels, adjust the
L
and
R
trimmers to align the outputs.
