3.4. Web Management - VLAN Setting
VLAN stands for Virtual LAN, which is a logical network grouping that limits the broadcast
domain and allows you to isolate network traffic so that only the members of the same VLAN
group can communicate with each other.
This switch supports two different types of VLAN: port-based VLAN and tag-based VLAN.
Port-based VLAN:
Port-based VLAN is the simplest approach to LAN
implementation, assigning the ports on a switch to different VLANs. Port-based VLAN
only applies to the ports of the switch.
Tag-based VLAN:
Tag-based VLAN follows IEEE 802.1Q technology to tag VLAN ID
to the packets. The tagged VID is not only applied to the switch, but can also be
forwarded to the next switch and whole network.

management web pages are different,
and will be discussed separately in the following chapters.

Change VLAN Mode:
Press this button to change the VLAN mode from port-based
VLAN to tag-based VLAN. Please note that all the VLAN settings will be reset to default
and lost if you change the VLAN mode.
