B.1. Introduction 

B.1.1. General Information 

The TR4020 and TR4030 are 

Online Time Recorders with built-in 
Floppy Disk Drive. The difference 
between the two models is in the 
online interface: the TR4020 utilizes 
an RS232 communications network, 
while the TR4030 has an Ethernet 
port and can be placed on the Local 
Area Network (LAN) directly. 

The TR40xx has two modes of 

operation: the Normal Mode and the 
Programming Mode. 

In the Normal Mode, the 

Terminal is accepting User 
registration. Users register by 
selecting an appropriate Event (IN, 
OUT, etc.), entering Shift, then 
reading their ID-card. The Time and 

Attendance data is accumulated in the TR40xx’s internal non-volatile memory. Later, you can save the data 
to the Floppy Disk or upload it to the PC via RS232 network. 

Programming Mode is used to save the Terminal’s database contents to the Floppy Disk, manage the 

Time and Attendance database, and setup the TR40xx (program its functioning parameters or “Settings”). 
All functions in the Programming Mode are accessed via convenient onscreen Menu. Access to the 
Programming Mode is protected by the Master ID-card and (optionally) a Master Password.
