safe place for future reference. Use this product only as intended (as set out in the user
instructions). Any changes or modifi cations to the product or painting it will result in loss

Operation
The FlammEx water detector alarm is triggered when both sensor surfaces on the housing
base come into contact with water, which creates an electrical connection between them.
It is designed for domestic use, to detect leaks in washing machines, dishwashers, etc. or
other water leaks. In particular, the early warning system can prevent – or at least limit – water
damage caused by in-built appliances or appliances and macerator pumps in basement areas.
The audible alarm is loud and continuous (approx. 85 dB) and can be heard from far away. The
9 V alarm output can be used to set off 9 V FlammEx smoke detectors via a 2-wire connection.
If a fl oating contact is required, the FlammEx system relay can be used.
Applications for the FlammEx water detector:
• Stand-alone mode.
• 2-wire interconnection with up to 30 FlammEx detectors.
Installation
• The height at which the detector is mounted on the wall will determine the water level at
which the detector is triggered.
• Two installation methods are possible:
1. The detector is directly mounted at the desired mounting height.
2. The detector is mounted separately from the housing base containing the sensor
surfaces.
• If you choose option 2, detach the housing base from the sensor surface by pressing the
latch and carefully remove
(Fig. 1)
.
• Make sure that the housing base containing the sensor surfaces is installed fl at on the
fl oor, for example by screwing it down.
• To mount the detector, secure 2 screws vertically one above the other (58 mm apart) into
the wall and leave approx. 2 – 3 mm protruding.
• Open the battery compartment on the side of the housing and carefully pull the battery clip
(Fig. 2)
.
• Insert the 9 V battery the right way round and close the battery compartment.
To test, bridge the two sensor surfaces on the housing base with a moistened fi nger. The
detector will emit a loud alarm signal and will stop when you let go of the sensor surfaces. Now
hang the detector on the wall using the screws and pull it slightly downwards. If possible, check
that the alarm is working by putting a little water on the fl oor.
