Section 16 - Normal Operating Parameters

The Nitrogen Generator System uses a two tank system design to deliver high purity nitrogen to the fire protection

system. The pressure switch on the air storage tank controls the air compressor by turning it on and off at the desired pressure

set points. Another pressure switch on the nitrogen tank controls the nitrogen solenoid valve on the inside of the cabinet.

Whenever the nitrogen storage tank requires nitrogen, the nitrogen solenoid valve opens allowing air to come from the air

storage tank. Once the nitrogen storage tank reaches the desired set point the nitrogen solenoid closes.

•

Periodic (typically less than 10 times an hour) running of the air compressor is expected.

•

Periodic (typically less than 12 times a day) opening and closing of the nitrogen solenoid is expected.

•

When the nitrogen solenoid valve is closed, the membrane pressure gauge will read “0”.

•

The automatic drain valve automatically releases condensate from the unit.

NOTE:

These are typical durations. Actual times may be slightly longer or shorter. These are typical pressure set points.

Actual pressure can be ±3 PSI.
