The engine does not
start (for manually-
operated control
boards only)
The engine does not start
when the key switch is
turned to the START
position
1. Check the key switch
2. Check for faults shown by the indicator lights. If necessary, reset
the generator after having remedied the indicated fault.
3. Check the battery charger voltage. If there is no voltage reading,
check the battery charger fuses. If the voltage reading is too low,
recharge the battery.
4. Check the diesel fuel level in the tank. Top up if necessary.
5. Check if the diesel fuel filters are clogged. Replace if necessary.
6. Check for air in the diesel fuel circuit. Bleed the circuit if
necessary.
7. Refer to the engine handbook.
The engine does not
start (for automatic
control boards only)
The engine does not start
when the start signal is
given by the generator
operation switch or by a
remote signal.
1. Check if any warning lights are on in the control panel. If
necessary, reset after having repaired the fault.
2. Check the battery charger voltage. If there is no voltage reading,
check the battery charger fuses. If the voltage reading is too low,
recharge the battery.
3. Refer to the engine handbook.
4. Check the stop electrovalve or electromagnet. Connect a d.c.
voltmeter between the electrovalve and the negative terminal. Start
the generating set by putting the generator operation switch to
MAN and press the START push button. If the instrument gives a
voltage reading, the electrovalve or the starter do not work and
must be replaced or repaired. If there is no voltage reading, check
the control board connections and the wiring.
5. If the connections are intact, replace the battery charger.
6. In the diesel fuel circuit, check that diesel fuel comes out of the
injectors.
The engine does not start
or stops immediately.
1. Check the fuel level.
2. Check the diesel fuel feed pump.
3. Check for obstructions on the fuel supply line. If necessary, clean.
4. Refer to the engine handbook.
5. Check the battery charger voltage. If there is no voltage reading,
check the battery charger fuses. If necessary replace the battery
charger.
6. Check if any indicator lights on the control board are on. If
necessary, repair the fault and reset the generating set by putting
the key switch or the generator operation switch to OFF
