COMPONENT SERVICABILITY

 AIRFLOW

The air flow system provides cold air through the
evaporator coils, circulating cold air from the rear of
the freezer cabinet up to  and then to be pulled in
through the air return at the mullion, while sending
cold air down into the fresh food compartment to be
circulated and returned to the evaporator, to start the
process over.  It is critical that the evaporator fan
blade be positioned 3/8" from the end of the motor
shaft after removing or replacing the evaporator
motor.

The damper is located at the back of the control
console, and can be removed by removing two
screws, after removing the console.  The damper is
opened and closed by adjusting the  control knobe,
and the gear tooth engages the linkage.At the mid
setting (#5), the damper will close when the fresh
food compart temperature drops to 34

 CONDENSER FAN

Although the condenser fan motor operates at a
slower speed (RPM) than previous models, the 5
blade fan moves about the same amount of air
(CFM)  and is quieter overall.

The condenser fan motor is mounted with screws to
three brackets that, in turn, are mounted to the fan
housing. The fan housing is mounted inside the
machine compartment, at the rear.

To remove the fan motor, first remove the rear
access cover. Remove the two screws that secure
the fan housing to the outer case back and pull the
fan housing to the left to disengage the mounting tabs
(at the right) from the slots in the side of the machine
compartment. Next, disconnect the wiring harness,
remove the fan blade, and remove the screws from
the mounting brackets.  It is recommended that the
fan blade be removed, then the fan motor angled out
to clear the fan mounting bracket.
