The humidity sensor is located in the left side of
the machine compartment, on the bracket behind
the ambient thermistor. The humidity sensor is
energized as long as the refrigerator is powered
up. The main board supplies the sensor with 5 VDC.
Feedback from the sensor controls the vertical
mullion heater, and can be read from the main
board.
Diagnosing
Checking from the main board approximate
operating voltages can be read at the J1, J5, and
J14 connectors.
• J1 pin 5 (brown) - J14 pin 4 (white) = 5 VDC
Any voltage higher than 4 VDC or lower than 1
VDC indicates a failed humidity sensor and can be
checked at:
• J5 pin 6 (yellow) - J14 pin 4 (white) = 1 - 3.6 VDC
NOTE: There is no resistance check for the humidity
sensor.
Humidity Sensor Removal
1. Remove one Philips screw (same screw which
holds the ambient thermistor retainer).
2. Slide the sensor assembly back to remove the

3. Disconnect the three pin connector.
